Lazy post - some things I like

So today I was having a look on Something Old, Something New, and found a couple of ideas that I really like (I also really like Something Old, Something New, by the way; Mackenzie's range of invites are really lovely. I'm quite a fan and a frequent lurker on her blog).

1)
These ring pillows, also found here:

2) and, slightly more excitingly as they're just the thing I've been looking for;
These stunning, glorious necklaces (and earrings etc etc etc):

Here's the
direct link. Seriously, WANTING one of these. My dress is actually pretty busy though, so a pair of earrings may be more suitable. In any case, I'm loving how classic, yet unusual, these necklaces are. There's just something about them. I have a bit of a thing for pearls, and these are something special I think.

yep, I'm lazy. I shall try to write a deeper post tomorrow.

A good way to waste 15 minutes & an anecdote from Saturday night

Found this morning on In This Instance (one of my favourite must-read blogs - check out her wedding recaps in the "about me" section = stunning), is this fun tool that figures out your decor style. Here is the direct link.

Apparently:

The above words sound a little arsey, but when I went over the summary of things I liked at the end, it surprisingly came together in my ideal style (I have a tendency to contradict myself in quizzes - remember those ones in Dolly and Girlfriend?? or those "which Friend/Sex and the City person are you" questionnaires? Always kinda annoyed me).

I caught the tram home late on Saturday night after an evening with a friend. As we passed through a station a large group of girls got on; all identically dressed to the nines with their beehive hairdos, little dresses (do they not know how cold it is outside?), and not a day over seventeen. It transpired that they were heading to Baa Bar for the evening, and pre-drinks had obviously set them up for a good night (except for the girl crying down the other end of the carriage. There's always one). As we neared the city their {identical} cellphones came out of {identical} clutches as the girls scrambled to gather those eager beavers already in town. Suddenly the carriage was filled with the sound of at least 5 identically dressed teens crying "baa bar, baa bar, baa bar". Indeed. *

* to those who know me best - yup, I know I'm being mean and hypocritical, having spent many a night in my black Glassons trousers and a sparkly top dancing around a cluster of handbags in town, looking pretty much exactly the same as all my friends. And yes, I loved every minute of it (except for when I was crying. Which didn't happen that much, but still). Just thought the above was funny is all.

The coolest wall tile in the world

I was just cruising around on Esty and stumbled across this - the most beautiful wall tile ever created. I challenge you to find a more aesthetically pleasing wall tile. It's 9" sq, and 3" deep. And I want it so bad. So bad I can taste it. It's name is Fungi, its made of porcelain, and it's by Heather of Element Clay Studio. There are a bunch of others in the collection, all cool, but I am drawn to this one. It's on the market for a cool $245 - well worth it for a good piece of art, but unfortunately a tad out of my budget. Check out Heather's other listings - I also love the Urchin Bowls.

Cake toppers!

I'm not sure if we'll end up having figurines or anything on our wedding cake, but these are cute enough to convince me! As always, Etsy has come through to save the day, but there are a few lovely ones from other sources too.

From top to bottom: By Rainsend on Etsy; Wedding Cake Toppers; next two images from That's My Topper ; Lynn's Little Creations on Etsy. All toppers by Rainsend, Lynn, and Wedding Cake Toppers can be completely individualised to suit. But there's something about the simplicity of the porcelain figurines that really grabs my attention.

Good enough to eat (off)

Deviating from the wedding (and New Zealand based {sorry!}) inspiration for a post to introduce my new favourite store - Anthropologie. I'm sure I'm the last to know about this company but my jaw dropped when I saw their site and now I have to share. Not only providing the world with the coolest clothing range, they'll make your house look awesome too!! bathmats, shower curtains, pot holders, paperweights; it's all ultra-trendy and I want all of it! Here are a few of my favourites...

Something from Bonny Scotland

I was up in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival on the weekend, and came across a wee market. One stall that drew my attention featured the work of Aldona Juska - a Yorkshire lass of Lithuanian descent who is now based in Edinburgh. Aldona works with metals to create jewellery, sculpture and table art which is a little different from your standard bird bath or candelabra.

The piece that I liked the best at the market is a photo holder that could double as a place card holder for a reception dinner and a favour for guests.
There is also this low candelabra which i thought would look stunning as a centrepiece.

As well as some really unique jewellery, Aldona creates sculptures which would be equally at home in the garden or the living room. Wouldn't they make lovely gifts?
